Video Contest Finalist!

I just made it as a finalist in a video contest I've entered. I was wondering if you could help me win the grand prize by voting for me. Here is the link: http://www.worldwidelearn.com/thisismyclassroom/contest-finalists/

I am fcgisarah and I made the video with the guitar. If you watch the video, there are stop motion robots moving towards the end. You can vote once every 24 hours. The contest ends July 26. Thanks!

Banks

After being robbed by muggers on a street corner, the victim questioned the distribution of the money stolen by thieves.

"You know, since it was my money, I sort of hoped I would be the one to keep it", explained the mugging victim.

The thieves however said their compensation was justified since they took the risk of going to prison for stealing the money, and felt any bonuses were deserved based on the risk involved.

The police ultimately arrested the victim, as his excited attitude over the robbery lead them to take him in on a disorderly conduct charge.

"We needed to keep the peace in this situation, and it seemed the robbers had the upper hand for the most part but needed our assistance in maintaining calm in what could have turned into a volatile situation," a person close to the investigation said under the condition that their identity not be revealed, since they didn't have the authority to speak on the matter.

"If all these victims would just stay calm, then the thieves and those in authority will work things out in way that will be beneficial to both them and those regulating the situation." the anonymous source stated. "Besides, it's a free market economy and hindering robbery might tend to sway us toward socialism. Considering the potential profit of some of these thieves strictly regulating them could have a tendency to depress the market's recovery."

Things

I haven't posted in a while. There are lots of things going on. I feel so much more energetic lately and I am think it is because I had my wisdom tooth out a few months back. I have been playing tennis, I joined a film group, I help film local cable programs, and I am working on a mockumentary. I am also working on a documentary with my film group. I signed up for a field production film class which starts in October. Afterwards, I will be able to check out really, really nice film equipment. Wow. It does sound like a lot especially considering I also work full time. Anyway, I am having a blast any time I'm not working. Ruth was having a problem with me being gone so often but now that she has started art school, she is really busy too. We have been together for 7 years now this month. That's so super crazy.

I am trying to get the word super to become popular. I was at Bumbershoot in Seattle last weekend. I was in line for something free and there was a lesbian couple from San Francisco behind me. I can't remember what we were talking about but I said something was super cool. Then one of the lesbians said something like "yeah, that's super awesome." My plan might be working. Hopefully it isn't something that is said often already.

Must stop playing wii tennis... My arm is in pain and yet I keep playing. I am trying to switch to wii golf for awhile. Hopefully that will give my arm a break. I should go to the gym and work other areas besides just my wii arm.

We have finished the film class. This is my first studio film project: http://blip.tv/file/1592703 Some of it is really cheesetastic. It isn't quite my style but I learned a lot about filming in a studio. I think I want to take a kick boxing class next. After that, I want to take a field film class when it warms up in the Spring. After that, I want to take a mushroom hunting class...and then maybe a felting class.

I am also working on a super cool Website. More will be revealed later.

I had a great birthday today. Ruth made me a funfetti cake. She has been giving me birthday presents every couple of days since late October. I didn't get a gift basket from my new job. I guess I haven't been there long enough. I got a card from my mom with a Visa gift card and a Borders gift card. Overall it has been really great.

My new job is going well. I have been writing for the past three days. The owner of the company wants us to write about 500 words or more each day to post on their blog. I have been writing lots of blog entries about gift baskets to stock up. It is really hard to come up with over 500 words when describing a gift basket. The whole purpose is to help with their search engine ranking. I also have to use the words "gift baskets" within the first few sentences. I never thought I would be paid to blog. On my first day, my boss gave me the task of creating a Facebook and Twitter account.

I wrote two press releases yesterday. They need a total of 12 by the end of the year. Since I have a degree in public relations, I have been designated their PR expert. I am supposed to be a sales person who does some PR work but I think they may make me a PR person who does a little sales work. I am not sure what role they want me to play. I haven't done any PR work in over 2 years but it is slowly coming back. I am starting to remember what I learned in college and during my internships.

Ok..enough writing for today.

I went through orientation at the Portland Community Media center. They have like 6 local channels and they fill the channels with shows filmed in the community. They provide access to cameras, a studio and editing equipment. They also have super cheap film classes. I think I am going to become a certified independent producer. I will learn a lot about the industry. I am very serious about the film thing. I think this is really what I want to do in the long run.

I got a job. I am a business development associate for a large online gift basket company. I will be contacting companies to see if they would like to sign up for the gift program and have gift baskets sent to employees on their birthday. This is a brand new position for this company. I will also be blogging and writing press releases. It sounds like a pretty cool job. The person that interviewed me said they could foresee the person in this position managing a team in the future. I start on Wednesday. My birthday is a few days later. It would be really cool if I got a gift basket for my birthday. I think it might be too soon though.

I can't find actors for my short film. I am looking for volunteers. I have talked to other film makers and they aren't having as much trouble finding people. I think it might be because it is a gay film. I might put a flyer up at the Q Center which is like a community gay place.

We went to the Q Center twice last week. They held a meeting to discuss becoming a lesbian parent. There was even a doctor there from OHSU to answer questions. Finding sperm is a bigger challenge then we thought if you don't think craigslist is an option (we don't). We also saw the movie The Hunger on another night. Susan Sarandon plays a bisexual woman. She is really hot in that movie. Davie Bowie is in it too. It was weird but hot. I just discovered the Q Center a few weeks ago. The Big Brothers Big Sisters asked me and Ruth to talk about our experience as a big sister at the Q Center because they are trying to recruit more bigs. I think it is great that they are even trying to target the gay community. I love that Portland is so queer friendly.

Spending too much time on google

I have recently read up on how dangerous microwaves are. Our microwave is now listed on craigslist. Some studies have found some really shocking information.

Job

I still haven't found a job. I will sell the big TV so we can pay the bills up for another month. The TV will be delivered by FedEx on Friday. I should also be getting tax money back at the end of the year so if I have to charge some on the credit card during this time, I should be able to pay it off again.

I took a break from being really stressed today. Me and Ruth went to the pumpkin patch on Sauvie Island and picked two pumpkins. I will upload a video soon. I had a lot of fun. Ruth usually sleeps much later then I do so I applied to a bunch of jobs this morning and then went out with Ruth.

I am trying a new approach to job hunting. I have been putting on my pants suit and walking around downtown to different staffing agencies. I am now registered with two. One has more helpful then the other ones. I had an interview on Monday for a position providing customer support for companies who purchase their packaging like wine bottles. Even the staffing agencies are short on jobs. A few people have mentioned things have been "quiet".

Big Screen TV

I sometimes enter contests online. I have actually won quite a few nice things like concert tickets and gift cards. Today I won a 52 inch flat screen TV. It is a Sharp Aquos Wow. I don't think Ruth is going to like having a TV that large. If I don't like it either I will sell it on Craigslist. It is worth like $2k. I have kick ass speakers so I think it is going to go real nice with the new TV. I guess we don't have to buy a converter box now.
